Bahr Essalam Field

 

The field is located about 110 km from Tripoli coast. The field structure is an ENE,WSW trending narrow and elongated anticline about 50 km long and 4 km wide located in the central part of NC 41 area.

 

The reservoir rock is composed of carbonate facies; the petrophysical characteristics are generally good, especially in the most productive upper zone.

 

The exploration activities in the field started in 1977 and 1979 by drilling of two wells C1 and C2, followed by another five exploratory wells, the development plan calls for two phases, phase I consists of drilling 26 wells which were put on production in Sep 2005 whereas phase II will be developed in the near future and consists of drilling 10 wells.

 

The gas and condensate are produced from 15 platform wells and 11 subsea wells divided in 2 clusters located 20 and 24 km away from Sabratha Platform.

 

The total production capacity is 986 MMSCFD of sales gas and about 31,000 BBL/D of condensate.

 

The production from the subsea and platform wells is treated on Sabratha Platform for separation and dehydration. The condensate is pumped through a 10’’ pipeline to Mellitah for further treatment and export.

The gas is transported through a 36’’ pipeline to Mellitah plant for final treatment and onward transmission to the local market and export to Italy through the Green Stream compression station and 540 km 32’’ sea line.

 

Sabratha Platform

 

Sabratha Platform is located 110 km from Libyan coast in Bahr Essalam offshore field.

 

The platform, considered to be one of the biggest Libyan Offshore Oil and Gas facilities, is fixed to the sea bed in a water depth of 190 meters. The platform consists of all of the facilities required for preliminary separation and treatment of the gas produced from Bahr Essalam field as well as a fast moving work over rig (FMWR), living quarters for 120 persons and a helideck.
